Would def like to see that report! Sounds absurd

What do you mean? You’re still using AI you’re just letting the Americans and Chinese run it for you
This is what I was saying earlier about the green European false economy, Europe prides itself on being so green, but 90% of its digital tech is outsourced to other countries, it would not surprise me if 99% of Europeans were talking on a smartphone made in China, a computer made in China, AI and operating systems made in the US, all the while trying to stifle and regulate to death their own companies
You want them to build the equipment in the EU so at least you have a better chance of powering it with renewables
Europe is rushing to invest in AI infrastructure, as lawmakers and companies fear the continent is lagging behind in the critical tech and too reliant on US providers
Yes finally!
Wow! What?! No one involved, not the people building the data centres, the planning commissions, the approvals, the local and federal governments, it seems everyone involved completely forgot that except you, a guy who reads the guardian.
here’s your imaginary trophy, smartest guy in the thread🏆
if the data centres are powered by renewables then there is no impact, go fuck yourself
what about it?
this has to be stupid tech story of the year
wow they’re building a data centre in the uae call the police
who has run out of water due to a data centre?
secondly that sounds like a local government issue
For a start feel free to list all the OpenSource AI companies and models made in Europe :D
And then tell me which ones are competitive and not junk
For those of you at home this idea of OpenSource and Europe can win is pure copium, Europe is not even on the map in terms of AI power (America and China are far more ahead), Frances Mistral is the only one close and they are way off the top spots.
A quick look at the rankings https://lifearchitect.ai/models-table/
But you can simply compare the models on any AI comparison website
All that will happen is China and the USA will break through barriers and then Europe will inevitably use them instead of Europes own models because they won’t do what we want
So it’s absolutely critical that European AI is given as small a leash as possible and more funding to compete.
Hey champ, tell me, what do you know about OpenSource AI?
no ty
Really not looking for Europe to be behind in AI, they’ll be dependent on the USA/China and others who power ahead
Why are you using grok4?
who the hell puts taiwan and russia equal peg? Taiwan makes the worlds CPU’s, Russia makes the world’s ? oil and gas mainly?
sadly that’s where the numbers are, duno what you can do about that when Youtube has a monopoly on video content
bloody 'ell that’s a fancy dining table, looks like they got a rainforest down the middle
this is pointless, within next 5 years all search engines will have ai summaries
only weirdos on lemmy want to jump through random websites for information every time
fuck finally
💪
sorry mate that was a joke, not a literal statement
Silicon Valley startup Lyten will take full ownership of Northvolt Dwa ESS, Europe’s largest energy storage systems factory
This is so sad I duno what to say
most servers in the data centres use air cooling on the CPU/GPU/Drives etc, it blows cool air over the server which heats it up
You then have the HVAC systems which cool down the whole data centre
They are now moving towards a liquid cooled PC style of cooling where the cooling is built into the rack and doesn’t pull water from the mains
https://datacentremagazine.com/articles/microsoft-unveils-zero-water-cooling-for-ai-data-centres
There is a lot of attention being paid to make sure we don’t run out of water, but unfortunately that doesn’t generate anxiety clicks
