So far I’ve been using an old smartphone but the snooze function is unreliable, i.e. it stops at some point and there’s no way to just slap it to make it snooze.

So that is one very important feature.

It also must have an option to be completely dark, preferably slap it to light the clock for a few seconds.

And a choice of soft/rising alarm tones or preferably even upload own audio files.

And not constantly connected to a power outlet.

That’s very specific but I’m willing to spend some money on it. It doesn’t necessarily have to be manufactured in Europe, but that’s where I will order it.

I have an old one with a battery, which is not what you’re asking for but it has a feauture i have really come to like: you have to put the alarm on everytime. Having it go off every day automatically is a huge convienienxe that radio alarms, wake-up lights and smartphones have; but setting the alarm to wake up at a specific time next day is some kind of magic agreement with the universe. I’m not necessarily a believer in manifesting your destiny, but setting an intention like this really helps me out in the morning. Just wanting to put that out there.

Thanks! It looks pretty good and isn’t even expensive. Ticks all my boxes, except for a choice of audio files.

Are you happy with the “crescendo beeping”?

Does it beep endlessly or does it go into snooze functionality after some time? Is the snooze 100% reliable?

My impulse for writing this post was that once again, my alarm clock just gave up after a while, maybe after 3 snoozes? IDK. It’s not the battery.

The beeping makes you get out of bed, if you touch the upper button it snoozes for ten minutes. My wife and I both have one, gets the job done.

I have one of the chinese brand “Fan Ju”. It receives the DCF77 signal to adjust itself.

Extremely reliable, and goes for several years on one little battery.

you can tell home assistants to wake you to a song if you have a subscription that allows playing of them. Might be able to tell it to play any content. You can also have to play an internet radio station or it just has a routing like weather and such. Im pretty sure you can actually get the weather and stuff and have it end with a radio station. It will respond to a verbal snooze command so you don’t even need to slap it in the dark. It also could be used to play music or nature sounds or such when going to sleep. Alarms and timers are the most useful things about them really. That and things like what time does X (some store) open/close.
