Been out today and immediately noticed our local mini roundabouts with red crosses painted on them and nearly every motorway bridge with either a union flag or a flag of St George fixed them. It’s like they’ve just appeared overnight? What’s suddenly brought this on?
tommy robinson again?
Apparently, some flag shaggers on Facebook got mad that a council took down some flags so decided to just do this.
I heard, I can’t remember where, that ALL flags of any kind where being removed in certain places due to then being a health and safety risk.
Of course you can guess who jumped on the story and twisted it for their own means.
EDIT: Also, today I drove along the M25, junction 2 to the M3 and almost every bridge had a flag for each direction.
I did a similar journey. Half of the union flags were upside down.
Maybe that’s why St George’s is so popular? Nobody knows if you do it wrong.
Reform-led councils doing their dog whistle thing.
It’s in protest about migrant hotels and just general racism but it’s been painted as being patriotic due to the Lionesses victory against Spain earlier this month.
Lots of lampposts in towns have them, the white rectangles of zebra crossings have been painted with red crosses, same with some mini roundabouts.
Councils are leaving them up because there’s been reports of the contractors they’ve hired to take them down have been assaulted.
Most UK news sources are covering it
It’s gammon mating season or something
I do not approve of this comment, using the divisive label “gammon”! I laughed though :-)
People put flags up to protect are culcha. Cancel culture council took some down because of elf and safety gone mad. People put more flags up because they won’t let the govimint tell us wot to do. Ignoring the fact that only a few got taken down because they were on lampposts and posed a risk to drivers.
And it’s all driven by gammon constantly being triggered by brown people.
dogwhistling in action. They’re doing it for bad faith reasons and then cry that people must hate the UK when people get what they’re up to
Do you have a UKIP local council or something?
[Edit] or are you anywhere near this town that was in the news Guardian article recently? (There was a thread on here the other day)
Nope, this is up North, and was on a long stretch of motorway through Lancashire and Cheshire. Although yeah we do have a Reform county council now unfortunately.
This has been on the news for the past week.
Has it? I’ve genuinely not seen it, maybe I just haven’t checked the news recently.
