I work for an American firm in the tech sector. They’ve become enamoured with LLMs, and fired most technical staff around me (both UK and US based)… Now they ask what the holdup is regarding everything everyone else used to do. Eventually they realised they may have fired too many people, and so brought on a contracting firm to supply me with personnel needed. Meaning I need to train up 30 or so Indians remotely on systems I never really used in the first place.
Got a week off planned in Shropshire next week though. So just counting down the hours before I can escape the chaos.
Same boat. I wish there were tech jobs in the UK. I miss working in my native timezone. I miss powering through projects using caffeine in the morning. Now I start work at 3pm and if I want to sleep that night then that means no caffeine whatsoever.
Fast approaching burnout tbh.

And then you can return to work with reinvigorated resentment. Sorry to hear about your predicament, though.
Haha you’re not wrong!
I think a lot of people are going through similar if not worse, but I appreciate the sentiment nonetheless, thanks mate.
