      NI does not fund the NHS. It never did.

      Edit: Def not disagreeing defunding it is the Tory now labour way though.

      The NHS was set up to be funded by the general fund. Intentionally to ensure everyone had access. Rather then just workers.

      NI was set up to handle sick pay and pensions. (Although is not separated to do so any more. As multiple govs have long since borrowed against it for the general fund. )

      The fact that our NHS is funded this way. Is why it is still unique around the world. Most other Universal health care is an insurance scheme of some form. Just not as messed up as the US ones and with real ways for non employed to be covered.

        Knew about the pension part felt it was irrelevant to the article thanks for the clarification on the sick pay only part
