It does since geography is arbitrarily used against countries people personally disagree with from joining the european union. One could argue that Quebec is part of France and should be in the european union if they didn’t lose the 7 year war.
Why then argue that Israel should join because it’s closer to the EU than Cyprus and French Guinana, when geography shouldn’t matter if a nation should join the EU?
And no Quebec belongs to Canada. Noone should argue about that.
No you were talking about Israel joining the EU?
Not only that but French Guiana is in the union too. The EU’s land isn’t confined to Europe.
Because French Guinana is part of France.
Isn’t that way further away then Israel is to the european union?
French Guinana is still France and last I checked the map it’s pretty much in the hearthlands of the EU.
Heck if Greenland wasn’t autonomous it would also be part of the EU because of Denmark.
French Guiana isn’t located in continental europe, that’s what the debate is about.
That doesn’t matter. French Guiana is French Territory, that is what matters. And as such is part of the EU.

There was also talk of “Israel joining Nato”
Okay and that paves the road to Israel joining the EU how?
