Yes. This was what made me stop paying for streaming.
Yes, I guess, as a Linux user I could probably steal their stuff more easily than some others. (?) Or maybe just because I know how my computer works.
But - I have better things to do with my time.
I have indicated this to the streaming providers, using money, which I paid them, each month.
I believe that this is an easy way to tell me apart from pirates, who I understand did not pay for the streaming services each month.
But since the streaming services stopped delivering quality working streams to my devices, I no longer pruchase their streaming services.
Now I am enjoying my ancient DVD and VHS collection until streaming services stop sucking.
The best is when they use iPad notes or even their fucking contacts to save info lol
That’s awesome, worrying, adorable, and still more secure than using the same password everywhere.
I’ve had users have separate written entries for “Office”, “Skype”, “Hotmail”, and “Windows” because they don’t understand those things are all one Microsoft Account.
In fairness to them, I get a new email every month or two from Microsoft letting me know that they merged another account that I didn’t ever ask them to.
makes me worry what I’ll be like when i need some young whippersnapper so that I can pay via personal, irrational, conditional thinking.
Sometimes I share this fear.
But then I think - I’m on Lemmy, so I think “I’m still hip to new jazz.”
But then I remember that Virtual Reality will (probably) be commonplace someday, and something somewhere will require it - and I know in my heart that I’ll complain loudly about it before, during, and after I (demand that my grandchild) use it (for me).
It’ll almost certainly be an AI model backed by 1000s of “trainers” in 3rd world countries doing it, but only until the model is fully trained.
This would be better than most of the crap being proposed or implemented.
But, since the keys are presumably reusable, they’ll presumably get borrowed shared by and among minors almost immediately.
There could be some “Netflix account sharing” style work to deter that, of course.
So…coming soon: an app that can match up images of friends or colleagues with a summary of their pornography preferences.
This could at least liven up some boring meetings or dull parties…
I do not have any RAM to share, sorry.
An economics simulation in Python needing 200+GB of RAM sounds preventable.
In your friend’s shoes, I might start asking for pointers over on the programming.dev Lemmy.
As others have said, a rewrite in a faster language like C or goLang could help - but my guess is there’s also ways to cut that memory need way down, while still using Python.
“U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), a member of the Senate Finance Committee, pushed Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon; Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta; Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla; Tim Cook, CEO of Apple; and Sundar Pichai, CEO of Alphabet, on their attempts to secure billion-dollar tax handouts paid for by ripping away health care coverage, food assistance, and other services from millions of American families.”
I wish headlines like this would use their names. These aren’t an amorphous immoral blob responding to stimuli, these are specific human individuals who can still be held accountable to the rule of law:
Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, Tim Cook, Sundar Pichai [are] Attempting to Secure Billions in Tax Handouts Paid For By Ripping Health Care, Food From Families
That’s five people whose actions, per the article, may cause an additional 51,000 deaths.
Much of what Darth Vader is into is creepy.
That person is being needlessly cautious.
A good swing with a steel baseball bat is enough to deal with a printer from 2004.
Results are nice, but shortsightedly juicing the appearance of shareholder value for a single quarter is forever… Somehow.
I was just thinking about this: more evidence of the Minecraft to Linux self hosting pipeline.
Telsa used to be a status symbol, and sexy.
But then their chief chap couldn’t seem to publicly pronounce the popular phrase “Nazi’s suck and I wish to have nothing to do with them”.
Now Telsa is an anti-status symbol.
I remember. But don’t quote me on that. Actually, I guess no one can quote me on it, it was in a discussion on Google Wave, anyway.
The joke is on you (and all of us) though. I’m going to start using “backflip” in my agile process terminology.
That’s the point of the saying. The law can be crafted to treat everyone equally, while only benefitting the king.
Edit: It’s why the billionaire media is so angry at the concept of “equity” and “wokeness”. Both terms help us beggars discuss our situation, and both might threaten the king’s throne, if we realize how simply the laws could be adjusted for what we want from them, rather than for what the king wants.
Yes. If they did allow it, who would hire their nephew, then?
